Barbara Medina originally hails from Southern California, spending her first 12 years there. She later landed in the twin cities of Minnesota, where she continues to live today. After finishing high school, she eventually attended Cosmetology school and has worked as a Hairstylist for 37 years within the industry…behind the chain, in management, and also as an educator. After discovering birth-family information, she was led on a journey that forced her to write about her experiences as she processed along the way. Calling it all “Not for the faint of heart.”

Writing for publication is a first for her.  After sharing her “first draft” with selected individuals within her inner circle, the feedback was so overwhelmingly positive that she continued working on her novel until she was satisfied with her expression of the events written about. She shares her story with the hope of helping others who might share in relating to adoption and the desire for self-discovery. 

Barbara currently lives in her Minneapolis home with her 3-year-old Bernedoodle McKay, where she still enjoys her career in the hair industry.
